Bonding strength of heterogeneous materials due to surface roughening is thought to be affected by the penetration of resin into the roughened part. The penetration behavior due to resin differences can be compared by investigating with an analytical electron microscope. The TEM tomography method is one technique for numerically quantifying the bonding interface between a surface-roughened metal material and a resin material. The bonding condition can be treated numerically based on information on the material’s surface area and occupied volume in the bonded section, found through three-dimensional analysis.
